In some cases, when the errors are beyond repair, the program will warn you about them so that you can take the necessary measures. In this regard, Exact Audio Copy can avoid distortions occurring due to disc scratches as it uses such advanced technologies as Multi-reading and Accurate Rip.
In addition, the program has other advantages. For instance, it can create tags or rename the files automatically according to their tags. It can also store information about tracks in a local database. Luckily, it has a basic WAV editor. Finally, it can also help you burn audio CDs.
To sum it all up, Exact Audio Copy is not just a ripper. As explained above, its main advantage is related to the accuracy of the copying results. There is only one logical drawback derived from this, the program works much slower in a secure mode. Fortunately, there are also two other modes called Fast and Burst. However, you should always be aware that the copying speed will be inversely proportional to accuracy. My recommendation: always use the Secure mode with old and scratched discs.
